Photo Shoot Day 1: Successful!

After much deliberation about whether or not the lighting would make the sprinkler system go off, and dealing with difficult eyelashes, we’ve successfully finished our first concept: “Blood Orange” (Rowe’s brilliant name choice).

Two Month Long Photo Shoot Extravaganza!!!!

So today will mark day 1 in this two month long photo shoot extravaganza!! A friend approached me with the idea of doing a series (12 or so) photo concepts. We immediately contacted a make up student from Vancouver Film School and had our first meeting just last night. The friend is what I would have to classify as the ‘best kind of client’ ever. She was totally open to all ideas we had, and wasn’t opposed to having her ideas shot down. She came to the table prepared with full explanations, images, props, and possible locations.

Needless to say I’m very excited. This is an area of photography I haven’t explored in the least, a lot of it is full bodied (my worst enemy) and full of props (also my worst enemy). The content itself is also an area I haven’t explored, very ‘alternative’ and borderline gore. I’m nervous about stepping outside of my comfort zone, in terms of both content (I can’t even watch a scary movie, let alone a gore style movie) and in technical skills.

It’s definitely not going to be conservative, and I’m nervous about is the responses I’ll get for the photography, if it all works out. I guess I won’t gain any skill if I don’t take risks and step out of my comfort zone. Wish us luck!
